An experienced manager of a number of profitable consultancy companies, he has held senior sales and marketing positions within BT plc. and Inmarsat Ventures. Drawing on a background in healthcare management, consultancy and marketing of IT services, he delivers assignments to suppliers of healthcare IT services and to health service providers in UK and internationally. His healthcare management experience includes seven years in the NHS, and four years overseas, starting as a national trainee with the NHS in Scotland.

New initiatives and policies for technology enabled care

Led a 3-person team to develop EU guidelines on assessment of the reliability of mobile health applications, under contract from the European Commission.

Facilitated the Action Group on Integrated Care, which is part of the Innovation European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA) and prepared the Action Plan to 2020 with NHS 24, Scotland.

Over 18 months, experience gained through collaboration with the Scottish Government, to develop and launch the new Scottish Centre for Telehealth, now part of NHS 24.

For NHS Education for Scotland, building the business case and assisting with the launch of the new Remote and Rural Health Educational Alliance (RRHEAL).

Improving clinical and business processes

Managing technology enablement services to support the Inner North West London Integrated Care Programme, covering a population of 2 million with c 175 participating end-user sites.

Led a team to deliver process improvements using Lean methodologies in 27 theatres across 5 sites, targeting 10 fold reductions in operation cancellations and savings in excess of £1.3M p.a. for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. 

For Kingston Primary Care Trust, led a team to deliver a 5 year Commissioning Strategy and clinical engagement strategy.

Market Entry

Launched and supported the growth of more than 20 businesses targeting the health and social care sectors in UK and across Europe: familiar with the market places and business models found in the following areas:
